George Papandreou gave, through the parliamentary group of PASOK, the go-ahead to take Alter down.
The harsh criticism that the network throws at him, has been bothering him. And not only him. Alter also bothers his friends, publishers and network owners, who have a goal. To shut Alter down. We hadnt even recovered from the first shock, following his statements, when all employees were confronted by the Ministry of Finance. What have little Georges parrots done?
They froze Alters bank accounts and now the employees cannot be paid. They immediately started new work stoppages, affecting the live program of the only independent news network. Whenever someone tried to reach the ministrys officials, they were hiding like ostriches, and did not provide any explanation for their targeted attacks.
Next came the DA, in line with our prime ministers statements. They ordered new financial checkup in Alter, in order to examine for the millionth time, the circumstances under which the banks loaned the network.
We take our hat off to the independent Justice in our country, that all citizens value. We would expect, from the Ministry of Finance and the Department of Justice, the same attitude towards other big companies and especially, towards political parties. Organizations that were found out of the blue, with millions in their hands, loans from banks, even the national ones. We, all the employees, feel as if we are with our back against the wall. Once again, we are the scapegoats that have to pay for others mistakes and games.
In what God should we believe, in this poor country? The god of dirty politics and business interests? We believe in our own god, and we still have the hope that justice, although blind, will not operate with blinkers…
